I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
To know God is to know He is Good. God is not only good because He died for our sins. He is not only good because He calms our fears and quiets our doubts. God is good in all ways and in all things. He is generous. He is benevolent. He is kind.
The question to ask ourselves is do we see the goodness of God? Are we perceptive of God's goodness in our life and in the lives of others? There is so much to see if we are willing to open our eyes. The beauty of God's goodness is he so freely offers it. All we need to do to be reminded of God's love is to look. Come look and see.
In the Book of Hebrews, Jesus Christ is said to be the High Priest of good things to come. In Acts, Peter explains that Jesus went about doing good and healing the oppressed, because God was with him. When Jesus taught that we should love our enemies and do good to those who hurt us, He is teaching what He himself does! He gives rain to both the righteous and the wicked.
So God is good to all his children - it pleases Him to be kind and merciful. What then is our part? King Benjamin explains we are to be humble and recognize God is blessing us far more than we have earned or could ever repay. Then, with that perspective we are to do good for others. We are to be the "Good Samaritan". We are to be a light to others, so they can more readily see the goodness of God in their lives.
The good life - a life filled with an abundance of God's gifts in our lives - is made possible through the Love and Kindness of our Savior Jesus Christ.
"And whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do good is of me; for good cometh of none save it be of me. I am the same that leadeth men to all good" ~ Ether 4:12
