Helaman 5:12

And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.

The durability of a rock foundation compared to a sandy foundation is self-evident. What is not as easily appreciated is how much more effort it takes to establish a foundation built on rock. Sand and soft soil are easily moved. Rock must be carved, drilled and blasted. In many construction projects, pilings are driven deep into the soil to reach solid bedrock.

To build a foundation on rock requires considerable investment, commitment and effort. It is the same in our effort to build the foundation of our lives on Christ and His Gospel. The reward for that effort is the strength and fortitude to withstand the many storms of life. We will have storms, both natural and man-made and these will beat upon us. Yet if we build our Faith on the Foundation of Christ, that Faith - that Foundation - will never fail.

John 14:6

I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
